Jaguar - Extended Warranty - Comments

Hi,

I do not believe in extended warranties and never take them out on electrical appliancies etc. However my S Type Jaguar manufacturer's warranty ran out this week and I am now considereing one.

A Google search has brought up lots of them and the two have have looked at briefly are Motoreasy and the Quentin Wilson one. On the face of it, although I have still to read all of the small print, the Motoreasy one looks better value as it includes annual service and MOT although the Quentin wilson one gets an excellent write up.

I had a company car for about 25 years then handed it back and bought a new Jaguar three years ago so I have always been covered till now and I now feel a bit exposed!

I would appreciate any comments, recommendations, or good and bad experiences.

A

In 3 years have you had any trouble?

I would save your money, these warranty companies make money which means they pay out less than they take in so on average you know you will be better off with out a warranty.
  • Save your money. Warranties are designed to profit those who sell them, not those who buy them.
  • I went through this debate with my better halfs VW just over a year ago. When the manufacturers warranty ran out VW offered a 12 month extension, but I decided against it. I based my decision on the fact that in the 45K we had done in it we had zero warranty work in three years so it has proved itself reliable to date. Passed its first and second MOT with no work, so I take the view that I am £400 up.

Of course, now I have said this.......

After the manufacturers warranty expired last year I bought a Jaguar extended warranty for my S type and the renewal for this year has gone up £100 to £1120 but for unbeatable peace of mind and bearing in mind Jaguar main dealers charge £100+ per hour for labour not including parts, I will be renewing it again.
