Jeyes - aaarrgh!!!

I have just got off the phone to Jeyes and am really cross so am venting here >:(.

Basically I bought Jeyes parozone toilet bleach and accidentally got it on my toilet seat (it is for use under the rim) and its stained my toilet seat yellow where the bleach came into contact with the seat - it looks like a wee stain, nice!

So I rang Jeyes and they said it was accidental damage and they wouldn't pay for a replacement seat.

However I think that a toilet cleaner should be suitable for accidental spillages on and around the toilet - what do you think? If I had got it on the carpet fair enough but I really think they should pay for a replacment seat.

Sorry, don't understand why Jeyes should pay for a new seat. Bleach is a strong alkali and will likely stain anything it comes in contact with. They can't be responsible for accidents like this.

Bleach is designed to bleach - we would complain if it didn't. If there is any fault it would appear to be the fault of the toilet seat manufacturer, not Jeyes. I would expect a toilet seat to be capable of handling bleach ... I honestly think you are venting at the wrong people.

I use bleach on my white toilet seat all the time and it doesnt mark it

we had a mahogony seat and I put caustic soda down the loo once and it marked the seat badly white spots all over it even though Id lifted the seat, but it never occured to me to complain to the caustic soda peeps, I should have taken more care with it.

if it was a very expensive toilet seat claim on your insurance, but if it was only a tenner just fit a new one. only takes a few minutes.

I dont think you have a case against Jeyes at all

Well - I think you all have a point :-[

Its just that I use loads of cleaning products around my loo and nothing else has left a mark. I suppose I feel its like, if I bought funiture polish and whilst spraying it stained a carpet then I would be cross too. But Hey - I know what you are saying.

I am not enjoying my humble pie ;)
