M & S Christmas Ordering

Went into M&S last night to order food for Christmas from their new brochure. We had to pay £20 deposit, which we knew about. However, we have a M&S credit card and get reward vouchers each quarter. We tried to pay the £20 deposit with vouchers, but apparently you can't.

I can walk into M&S and buy anything in the store with the vouchers, as they're not limited in any way, so it seems odd that I couldn't use them for the deposit. Even the salesperson agreed it was daft.

Anyone else experienced this?

Yes it does seem daft cos if you used them to buy something then took them back for a refund you would be given it back as a gift card which you could then use on your order.

It does seem daft, albeit a very minor irritation. Send an Email to Stuart Rose, he has in the past changed their policy on daft things like this after people have written to him.

Thanks for that. As you say, a minor irritation more than anything, but it was lucky I had my wallet with me, as I'd gone there specifically to place the order. Apparently there's no problem with paying the balance with the vouchers!
