Architect? I don't think the OP's said very much on this matter. Maybe he did the sketches too as there's no requirement to be a 'professional' to submit drawings for a building warrant and/or planning permission.

I don't know why people have gotten so het up over my "engineer" comment as we don't really know what's needing done.
It could be simple and quoting the law is a bit previous until we get more info.

    Can we have some photos?

    Yes'we do.
As the line is between the NTE5 Master socket & the pole,it is BT's property &,as stated before, for a non licenced BT engineer or representative to tamper with this IS breaking the Telecommunications Act,hence illigal.

Thanks for the advice everyone. The line that I want moved is a second line for a printers, they already have a line supplied from another pole. I'm still awaiting the reply from Bt but the engineer thought it would be in the region of £2000 to move the line and dig up the pavements etc to place the cable underground. I just thought that this seemed very expensive and not needed. Im trying to seek legal advice as there is no wayleave etc in place.

House was built in the 1950s, the printers thinks Bt installed it several years ago, before I purchased the property.

Is it possible that the line may have been there before your property was built, in which case there may have been no wayleave.

In many cases cables must pass over peoples properties from poles to houses e.g. neighbours etc., so not sure whether BT have a right to route cable that way, as you have said legal advice will probably be required.
