Laser Surgery Gone Wrong

Not sure where to post this so apologies if it's in the wrong place.

I'll try to keep this as short as possible.

A, (male), friend of mine recently had a course of laser surgery for hair removal, the surgery was on his face. On one of the sessions there was obviously a problem and it left him with 3 burns on his face. The burns have now turned into 3 dark and recessed patches on his face. The clinic he attended have given him cream to lighten the patches, but admit they may have to send him for plastic surgery to repair the recessed areas. I was chatting to him about this today and he seems very blase about it, so I urged him to take this a lot more seriously as the laser surgery has basically disfigured him, (in my opinion). He admited that he is VERY self concious of the markings now.

My question is this, should he be getting legal advice now? If so, where? Otherwise would you say he should wait and see what the clinic offers?

The surgery that caused the problem was performed mid August.

He should see a solicitor specialising in personal injury - and ideally one which has a good reputation for claimant medical negligence.

It depends on whether there was neglience. If this was a risk of the surgery (which I suspect it was) and it was fully explained to him and he had it explained to him and agreed to it and there was no neglience he has no claim.

If there was neglience then he may have,

This. If your friend wants to take this further, he needs to see a specialist solicitor.

Your post reads as he wasn't that bothered, but you've now pointed them out to him you've made him really self conscious!!! Nice friend!

Seriously though, if he requires laser surgery, then I'm presuming the laser company are willing to pay for it. If this turns out fine, then I would leave it be. If laser surgery can't fix it, THEN it would be worth getting a lawyer onto it.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
