Our fishmonger told me not to freeze fresh tuna because it changed the metal levels in it, I didnt really understand it but have followed his advice0

Hmm I have frozen raspberries and peaches as well as apples (for a spice cake) before and they were fine..so I guess it depends on the fruit.
I know you can freeze ricotta cheese (which I never knew) and eggs too...mix the eggs and pour into an ice cube tray and when they are almost frozen cover with plastic. Two cubes are the equivalent of one large egg*If you like the advice I give...let me know by clicking the THANKS button*

You can freeze anything you like.
Whether you'll eat it again after it's defrosted is a whole different matter0 -

Hello there
I am not sure how to answer this in a way that will help you most. There are many ways to freeze things which dont normally work.
For example - eggs - you cant freeze fresh eggs in their shell - but if you make them into quiche or a cake (you get the idea) then they will freeze really well.
Same with mushrooms - dont freeze well raw - but if you cook them or make soup out of them then they freeze fine.
There are threads on freezing, thrift lady has a good one on building blocks for the freezer - but as i am no good at doing links - you will need to take a look at the mega index which has a freezer section.
Broadly - all meat, fish, hard cheese, and nearly all vegetables and fruit will freeze ok. You might need to make soup or if its tomato then tomato sauce with what you buy but most basic ingredients can be stored in this way.
Any packaged products will have directions on the pack - but you might get the info you need if you ask about a specific product.
HTH and sorry for the long post

I find this website useful with regarding to freezing various foods.
This is a fantastic website, so much info, definately will save me money and help me when at the reduced section.
Just moving on though, what is the best way of identifying everything in your chest freezer, I do try to write on the package, but sometimes it comes off or I don't want to use permanent marker on my good storage boxes. Do labels work, the cheap ones I mean?
How often do people eat their freezer empty? I seem to be constantly taking tonnes of stuff out to see whats at the bottom. I try to write it on a wipe clean notice board I have above the freezer in the garage, but it has become more of a job writing, then planning and then trying to find the item in the freezer, so I am taking pot luck alot of the time these days. I thought I was an organised person, but this one is becoming a headache, bur I really love picking up whoopsies for the freezer just in case.0 -

It's hard work isn't it, so much stuff you forget that is there. I try and put all the older stuff at the top as that is inevitably the one I go for first!! Rare to see it running low as I'm the same and love grabbing bits to stick in there. Lol at whoopsies I only just clicked (not been Asda for a while I get too tempted by the clothes):DAhhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0
