You can get the NUS cards through your Student Union when you start 6th form. If you get them from your student union you will get one with a space for your photo so they can be used as ID. Sometimes if there's an option to apply for one before you start college or sixth form you get the basic card with no photo on.

Would this be the NUS associate card?
They open the registration for associate cards for 2006/07 on September 1st
You have to be currently studying not about to start.
So you'll have to wait unfortunatly... no sneaking in student discounts during the holidays
NUS are being a bit poo at the moment actually.... the things they've been standing up for aren't quite what students are.... top up fees for example and they apparently haven't been as pro-active on the strike action! A few universities have actually pulled out of the union, But oh well!~Diminutive0 -
Yep, in September. Mine cost £7 though. You can get a free Connexions card which most shops accept as a sudent card http://www.connexions.gov.uk/0

As far as I am aware (ex president of SU by 1 month yay i get a life back!) the NUS 2006/7 cards will be available in September. Normally unions dont get their cards until late August - so unfortunately you wont be able to get one at the earliest then. This year there will be a charge for the discount NUS card - £10, there is an alternative, which is a card saying your a member of the NUS, that is free but gives you no money off.
There is the option of an ISIC cards (go through the ISIC website http://www.isic.org/sisp/index.htm?fx=istc_info ) but these cost and yo need proof of being a student - so will need a letter from 6th form college.
The other option is the connexions card as No Future says.0 -
you will be able to sign up for a NUS card as soon as youre a full-time student, when you enrol at college.
