New Year holidays

I am planning to take my girlfriend on a surprise New Year trip but need to do it as cheaply as possible. I want a 3 night break in Europe, preferable destinations are Krakow, Bratislava, Talliinn, Prague, Budapest and the like. Everything I can find at the moment is really expensive :-(
Does anyone have any ideas/tips? Will it be possible to get cheap deals nearer the time and should I just keep my eye out for Ryanair offers?

I think you'll find it expensive because it's over New Year!
Exactly the same way that most holidays taken over holiday periods are expensive.
I can't see things getting much cheaper, have you considered going away early/mid January?0 -
It's kind of a particular thing for new year, it is the only time we have off work together so it will be a nice surprise. The best thing I have found is 3 nights for the price of 2 in Brussels on the Eurostar for £219 each (there were some cheaper ones, that is quite a nice hotel). Problem with that is it will be really expensive once there.0

Pretty much 90% of the population of the country is off work at that time - hence the higher prices.0

I've been in Budapest once for New Year's Eve. You can find cheap flights with easyjet, wizzair and ryanair. You can book an apartment in the city centre, it's quite cheap.0

Start by playing around on www.skyscanner.net That's often a good base to know who flies where, when and for how much0

Bruges is lovely and very atmosheric. You can get there by eurostar or its only just over 1 hour drving from Calais. There is an old sqaure with a christmas market and ice rink and restaurants all around. The giant bell tower chimes at midnight and there are horse drawn carraiges. Prague is lovely but can get very cold.0
