Sash and Case Window Repair?

Does anyone know of anywhere that can repair an old sash and Case Window(preferably in the Inverclyde Region). I recently moved into a tenement flat and the windows (2) in the main hall are broken. The one on my floor wont open and has a smashed pane while the one on the 1st floor wont open. The only other problem i can see with getting these repaired would be the height as the one with the smashed pane is on the 2nd floor! Any ideas of the possible costs?

  • Windows are repaired/replaced from the inside so don't worry about it being on the second floor. I paid £998 for a sash replacement in London 2 years ago (they didn't replace the window frame though).
  • Thanks, its good to know they replace it from the inside out. Going to surf the net a little more and see if i can find a local company-so far no luck
  • Local joiners often are experienced in sash repair if you're in an area with a lot of houses that still have sash windows

My husband runs a purpose made joinery business. You can have just the sash replaced and leave the case intact. If any of the window is rotted he would only replace and not repair as a repair can take longer and be more expensive than a replacement and wont last as long.
A glass company will come out and replace the broken glass for you.

With it being an old sash type, be careful you are not in a conservation area if you are thinking of replacing it. If unsure ask the council and if it is they may be able to recommend a manufacturer who can deal with it.

Try asking your local painter or joiner if they use the "Window Care System".
This is a awesome new product for repairing rotten windows.
