Few questions on Alton Towers

Looking for help please.............we're off to Alton Towers at the weekend for the 1st time and have a couple of questions.

Can you leave the park and return later, with the same ticket or is it once you're in your in, eg can we go back to the car for jackets, change of clothes etc or even leave for a few hours and then return again in the evening and just show our original ticket or will we have to pay again?

Where's the best places (quality and price) to eat?

What is the boiler house and the maze exactly and are they worth paying another £6pp to visit each one.

Are they really strict on the height restrictions, my daughter is 'just' under 1.4m is it likely she will be allowed on the 'big, major' rides and if not are there any other scary rides she will be allowed on, the bigger and scarier the better.

Think that's all......................for now lol
Thanks

  • YES they are fairly strict with height restrictions, normally all have a measuring stick handy to check the lil uns...

BUT have you checked how many rides that have a 1.4m height minumium, as most rides these days are mainly 1.2m

Yes, you can get a `hand stamp` to go out and back in again,
but there`s nothing else in the area to go to...

    ENJOY :)

    thanks
Air, Nemesis, Oblivion, Rita and Ripsaw are all 140cm according to the website and they are the ones she want's to go on (been on you tube watching videos) but I'm sure she'll enjoy the others and she will easy pass 120cm, so no worried there.

Wasn't sure about 'hand stamp' thinggy, planning on being there most of the day/evening but might have had a break for a couple of hours to go out for tea, but will forget that idea now.

Any suggestions on best places to eat?

    Thanks again

They are strict at AT with height restrictions, when my son was just on the 1.4 mark we found that the best thing to do was to go to guest services where they measured him and put a wristband on him stating that he was 1.4m so he didn't have to be re-measured at the individual rides (this worked well as we discovered that the measuring sticks that they use on the rides do seem to vary quite a bit in how accurately they measure).

With regards to eating we find we always end up in the eat-all-you-like pizza/pasta/salad buffet (similar to Pizza Hut).

Last year, Alton Towers had McDonalds, this years its Burger King.

Prices are inflated, so expect £6 per person for a meal.

    Parking is £5 per car

    Not cheap..

We ate at the all you can eat pizza, salad & pasta. Prices include refillable drinks and we found it good value for a theme park.

We ate at the outdoors BBQ place, was around £6 for a burger/lattice chips type meal. Was quite edible but nothing special. There are the usual types of places there, not that many are indoors/with seating though so the pizza place may be a good idea.

Also may be worth you getting a refillable cup as once you buy it £6 you just keep refilling with soft drinks- so you can share it between adults/kids and not worry about having to keep paying for drinks all day.
