Insurance for my Smart Car

Hi everyone

Im picking up my Smart Car 698cc Coupe tomorrow and have got to arrange some insurance.

Does anyone know of any companies who might give me a really competitive quote for that car.

I seem to be getting quotes around £200.00 ... Im a mature female, no driving or other convictions, full protected no claims, held a licence since 1976 and the car isn't modified in any way

Hubby seems to think the £200 is high and that I should be able to get it a lot cheaper.

Thankyou :o
Some days I wake up Grumpy ... Other days I let him lie in.

Presumably you've been through all of Martin's car insurance guide? You won't be able to find it much cheaper than that, £50 maybe at the very most. Do you live in a big city?

    I've been Money Tipped!
I always seem to pay around £170 for my smart cabiro insurance. Went with Prudential the last 2 years. Do you name your husband as a driver as well. I found by adding him it brought the price down a bit.

Enjoy your new smart, I looking at the new Highstyle one that coming out, love the interior, not sure about the brown paintwork!

If you are " mature " enough to be over 50, try Saga.

and don't forget to check quidco and similar too, you should be able to get £50 or £75 cash back
  • Try MSM insurance - they specialise in smarts and kit cars, are real people, don't outsource to India and don't have an issue with SP licence decorations :)
  • Is it a LHD or RHD? I used to work for a large insurance broker and we'd always struggle to find companies who would be willing to insure Smart Cars....

We had smart cars in the LHD only days - getting insurance was never a problem. Even when we had it remapped cover was easy to find. IIRC we used Tesco back then.

Your postcode is probably a big factor in the quotes you are getting, but also suggest MSM.
