Powergen Estimated Bill Query
last week i received my quarterly bill from powergen, the readings at the last quarter are listed as estimated (actually think I phoned them in). From 10th march there was a substantial price increase and my bill is divided up to the period up to 10th march and the period since 10th march, however, all rates are down as estimated, so to my question before I actually ring them up is...
since every reading I can recall since moving into my flat has been estimated how can they actually charge me an estimated amount from a cost increase in March without visiting the property for a final reading on the old rate?
eg what if i've been out of the country for the last 10 weeks and not using any electric? Can I not just claim that all the charges on the bill pertain to the period from January to March with a neglible amount from March to now?
sorry if this doesnt make sense but it just narks me that they can substantially increase my rate without me even knowing about it and then estimate the amount of units on the higher rate!

Been in a long dispute with NPower over the same scam on a final bill when changing to BG Click Energy.
What I did is this.
Divide the total units for the billing period by the number of days to get an average daily unit consumption, then this.
Number of days x average daily units at old rate up to the increase date plus number of days x average daily units at new rate.
If the total is in your favour keep quiet ! If in Powergens favour explain your calculations and ask for a refund and don't take no for an answer.
It took 3 months for them to see sense but I got my reduction .

ive also recieved my powergen bill and its shot up, i cant really afford gas/elec anymore!!
they've also made a mistake in mine where after 10/3 theyve charged me twice from the same date, as well as making sure most of my kwh were after the price change!0
