well, I posted a while ago about them cancelling my credit card application after I sent in the relevant documentations and even called them to see what was happening.
well, I called again and got told that they would look into getting it reactivated, gave me a reference number and told me they would call me within 1 week ( as they seem to forget the other times)
anyway, I heard nothing back so decided to put a complaint in.

Called the relevant number and got through to someone who listened and told me that applications would be best placed to deal with this, would I like to speak to them or should she? I tell her she can. So im on hold for 15 mins and all of a sudden I am through to the department who have no idea what is going on. After once again explaining this, the only opt they give me is to reapply.

I decide to call the number they give if your complaint hasnt been dealt with properly. The girl takes everything down and has now advised me that it can tak up to 8weeks fir them to get back to me!!
this has already been going on for 3 months!!
The only reason I am still after this card is that Im going abroad to the states for 2 months next year so want a 0% card.

I have also told them that if this isnt sorted then I will report them to the financial omsbudmen. is this a stupid thing to do?

They've left a footprint on your credit file without actually processing an application for credit.

This is tantamount to defamation, and most certainly not bona fide or representative of the truth. I would suppose in breach of the Data Protection Act, too.

I think you have a very valid complaint, which you can take to the Ombudsman immediately, as 56 days has already lapsed since first complaining.

It might be an idea to write a letter to Abbey first though, giving them 14 days to remove the footprint (credit search) from your credit file, citing the data protection act etc etc

I'm too tired to scrabble up a draft letter now, maybe Moggles or NID can think of some good phrases to write?

wouldnt waste the money on a stamp, they did this to me and after been told 3 or 4 times the card was in the post I was told the application had been cancelled because they hadnt had the form back and was " I am not being condescending but....are you sure those other times that you were told the card was in the post ." complained and was sent an abbey pen!! oh and please apply again.
