venting my anger at argos

hi all
just need to vent my frustration at argos i brought a 42" LCD TV 4 months ago it lasted 3 months
so engineer came out and took it away
argos let me know it cant be fixed and as they no longer sell that model they offered refund or an other TV of the same speq with me paying £50 and them paying £50 (closest was £100 more expencive)
so i finally agreed on the second option as i could not get a same speq TV for the price anywhere
great i thought so they told me send us a cheque for the short fall and you will have it on a 7 day delivery fine i said
well 7 days have come and gone so i get on the phone to them and ask where is it
sorry mr dootson it is on a 21day delivery so i ask why have i been lied to you havent sir the 7 day delivery info was correct at the time but we have the right to change this
so were you going to inform me of the change
oh no sir we only have to phone you when its ready for delivery
so after a month i still have no telly and it looks like it is still a few weeks away
grrrrrrrrrrrr customer service ????? well i suppose bad service is still a service

    Oh dear, they almost got it so right by offering to split the difference on a higher-priced replacement....and then messed up the delivery.

    So irritating when companies do one thing right followed by one thing wrong.

    tell me about it you could almost hear it in their attitude of smugness of not much you can do about it even if you write a letter of complant
    i still cant work out that when i said i did not appreciate being lyeid to they said how
    that they can not see that being told you will get it 7 days when it changes to 21 days is not being lyied to

    I had the same problem with Argos over a £250 freeview DVD recorder. It broke after a month (although it didn't work properly from the start but rather stupidly I belived them when they said it was the DVD's I was using). Anyway I spent 45 mins in store trying to convince them it really was broken. They then sent it to an engineer to check it was really broken and couldn't be fixed. A month later I hadn't heard anything and the store told me I would just have to wait. So I contacted their head office and the next day I got a phone call from the store saying that yes indeed it was broken and I could pick up a new one. I also once returned something within a few days that was broken but could not find my receipt and depsite it having a huge sticker on with argos and the catalouge number they refused to believe that I had brought it in Argos. I had to ask to speak to a manager who refunded me in cash rather than vouchers or exchange which I would have expected due to not having my reciept. I think he was just embrassed over his staff suspect views.
