has anyone used a Pre paid credit card for car hire in USA?

Especially looking to see if anyone has used Dollar car hire to pay the deposit/leave as guarntee. I know some say you can use for car hire but going away next year and before I take one out I want to make sure can use it.

If so Could you let me know your experiences

Hi

I have hired a car with Dollar in Orlando and used a Cashplus card. It is a pre-paid card where you can get the car hire facility "Switched on". I got a card and used it for about 6months proving I could manage the account correctly. Then rang them up and they switched the facility on.

Be aware though that you need to have a certain amount of money available in your account as they will take the security deposit off your available balance for the duration of your holiday. I think it was about £300.

They just make sure you have the money on the account etc.

not it goes through exactly as a swipe of a normal credit card would do, the only difference is that you need to have available money for the deposit.

I think it is the only pre paid card where you can hire a car.
