Xbox and Xbox 360 Live?

Hello,

I have a friend who is thinking about getting an Xbox 360 and he has asked me if he could play against me over Xbox live on Battlefield 2 on my Xbox mk1.

I don't have a clue!

Also, do you connect the 360 in the same way as the original xbox via ethernet cable and router? Or do you need another fancy setup?

Thanks in advance!

Same sort of problem. My husband has an Xbox and used to play against his friend. The friend has brought an xbox 360. The two can no longer play together so I'm interested to know if any one has a way around this. I don't want to have to buy him an X box 360 unless I really have to.

The set up of the xbox 360 is the same as the original xbox. Same ethernet cable to the router. Sorry can't help with the first question. I don't play that game. It's one of the few games that's out on the xbox and xbox 360 so it's not on the list (detailed below). I wouldn't have thought they'd have separate groups for xbox live but you never know.

    ChrissieI,

What game is your husband and friend playing? If it's an original xbox game then in order to play it on the 360 you'll need to have a premium xbox or the core edition but with the hard drive. Also you'll need to check that the game is one that's on the backward compatability list...

Your husband will not be able to play games made for the 360 on his original xbox.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi

I think some may have misunderstood your question. Either that, or I have! :o

If Battlefield 2 (the XBOX version) is on the backwards compatibility list (for 360), then providing that you both have the XBOX version of the game, and not the 360 version, then you should be able to play over LIVE together.

If Battlefield 2 is not on the backwards compatibility list, it could still be compatible, but I've not found this out.

Also, if you have the XBOX version, and your friend has the 360 version of the game, you won't be able to play against each other.
