Your Gas provider slipped up and you are getting a year's free gas as a result - However assuming you know the opening meter reading on the account and now you certainly the presnt reading, the difference between the two represents two years use, but exactly what was used when and it's price at the time, is entirely unknown. I would ask the supplier for a list of all the rate changes and dates over the 2 year period and apply them to half the total consumption to calculate just what the year thay can't bill was worth, to establish just what they can claim for.
    Good Luck

This happened with us and nPower except it went on for 3 years! Ended up with a £3000 bill. My own fault really, I knew we weren't getting billed and decided to ignore it!

However, they wrote off the first 18 months and left us with around £1300 to pay, which they offered to take in 12 instalments. It may well be worth asking the gas provider to do likewise, I'm sure they'd be OK with that.
