In 2007 we got flooded and had to move out of my property in 2008 for appx 4 months. I informed N power of this and then took on the gas and electric at the property of where I moved to. When I moved back to my home I informed N power of this and I got billed for £600 for my current property and £400 for the one I was renting. I asked them what I could do as I could not afford to pay in one go. They suggested that we merged both accounts so I was only paying one payment and in effect my debts would be paid off for both properties. They increased my DD to suffice this. Then last year my DD decreased and I telephoned and asked why and they informed me that the outstanding amount for the rented property was paid off and I was only paying for the comsumption I was using at my home. I decided to leave N power 4 weeks ago and was informed that I had over £500 of credit !! anyway I have paid off my gas and electric with them. However I received a FINAL REMINDER letter from them on Monday stating that I owed £400+ on gas and £150+ on electric for the property which I was renting. After some heated discussion on the telephone with them it turns out that they had not merged my accounts and therefore I have not been paying any of the outstanding amount off and to top it all off they made a mistake and added and extra £208 to my gas account so in effect I only owed £200+ on my gas and not £400+.
I need some advice please as I have told them I am not paying this as it is an error on their part and if it has taken them 15 months to find out that I have not been paying anything and I have received no letters previous to my FINAL REMINDER then I do not know how they can demand the money. Am I right inwhat I am doing. If so please can someone informme of who I need to write to regarding this and I feel this is appaling.
Sorry for the long rant but I am livid about the customer service at N Power.:mad::mad:

... Am I right inwhat I am doing. ...
No. You still owe them for energy used in the property you were renting.
Surely you would have seen from the bills/accounts from your property whether or not they had brought forward a £400 shortfall from the rented property."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I am rather puzzled at the £600 bill for your flooded property whilst you had moved out. Even assuming that part of it was your normal use before you moved out, the only reason for a flooded and unoccupied property to be using £600 of power is that the builders doing the repair work were using a lot of Power Tools and industrial heaters to dry the building out, in which case it is your insurers who should be picking up bill. Try to establish what your usual bills were for this time of the year and write a strong letter to the insurers claiming everytrhing extra.0
