Who is telling the truth...SKY or BT??

Can anyone help me understand who is telling the truth in this situation. One day I received a notification out of the blue thanking me for going to SKY Talk. Because I hadn't ordered it I immediately called them and told them to cancel. I also called BT and alerted them to the fact that SKY would be asking for my line and to pls not give it to them if they did.

That was in June, now in October I receive an invoice for SKY Talk for calls.....when I called SKY they said that although I did cancel the service, I had to tell BT not to send. When I called BT and asked why they gave them the line after I had told them not to, they said they were in the obligation of giving them the line if they asked for it. SKY say that BT now how my calls and when I spoke to BT they said SKY had my calls.

When I saw I was getting nowhere, I called my credit card to cancel the payments, they said they couldn't cancel the payments and that only SKY can "decide" to stop charging me or not!!!

I've just realized that I'm paying both BT and SKY for the same calls and no one wants to take responsibility for any errors or refund me my money, nor do I have any control to stop them from doing what they want!!!!

I am really :mad::mad:. Hope someone can clarify who I should be targeting to resolve since I'm getting nowhere!!!!

Thanks
lanenaben

It appears that both Sky and BT are giving you confusing information. I don't know who is at fault, but can inform you of what you can do to resolve the issue. If you want your calls with BT ask them to place an order to return your calls to them. It may take a little time but it will resolve your issues and cancel whatever Sky Talk have on your line.

    Regards :)

    Hey lanenaben,

What has happened to you is called "slamming" and this is when another provider takes over your line or calls without your permission. Unfortunately there is very little that your current provider can do to stop this from happening as the takeover was requested. I have sent you a PM with a bit more information.

I am the official company representative of BT. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"
  • Surely the new provider will have to provide some information about the account?

    account number?

Transferring BB providers requires a mac code, So why doesnt swapping call providers?

My Dad had this after being persuaded to to switch to Tesco by a very pushy sales rep (Gauranteed would be cheeper regardless of call package or usage) while doing the weekly shopping.
I checked it out & found his claims were rubbish.
Tesco made him jump though hoops to cancel but BT were more helpfull & said that he would have to call BT within 3 weeks of the change sothey would be able to stop it. This worked fine & no problems since.
