Co-op chicken half price

Hi all,

Never usually post in this bit so hope I've got something worth posting and you don't all shout at me. Just popped into co-op for some milk and found this week only they are doing their Elmwood whole chickens at half price. So £1.47/kg instead of £2.95

Got a lovely large chicken for under £3 :-)

    What's an Elmwood Chicken?

    From their site -

"The Elmwood chickens live in a more natural and stimulating environment which allows them to thrive, with more space to move around in, perch and rest, with lots of natural daylight and a vegetarian, high cereal diet.

By nurturing the chickens in a calm and sunlit environment, and allowing them to live longer, more relaxed lives"

If you've seen any of the recent chicken welfare type series, I think Elmwood was the one in the middle. They're not free range, they're basically better looked after barn ones. Less chickens per square inch, some natural light, and some bit and pieces around for them to jump on/peck at.

I have this image of chickens on a corporate away day!!! :rotfl:
  • I doubt a £3 chicken would have had a "good" life... ;)

its normally £6 and a £6 chicken would have had a better life than aa deal from tesco at 2 for £5!!

the elmwood chickens actually do live a very good life obv free range would better but at least this is midway and not intensively reared chickens

For those of us who can't afford to buy free range then the Elmwood at half price gives a far tastier chicken for your hard earned cash than the usual stupidly cheap supermarket ones. These are genuinely half normal price, not just tat wheeled in for the offer. They do 20% off every few months and half price less often.

The other good thing is that they do chickens (and other things) in small sizes. Does anyone know when this offer ends?
