Hi again Vaxner
As you didn't post anything last Wednesday I went armed with my email to my local Odeon and well, my visit prompted me to write to head officeHi there, me again.
Sorry to bother you again but I thought I'd bring this to your attention.
I went to the cinema as planned last night and tried to pay for my tickets with my premier points and my orange wednesday ticket as I'd asked (see below).
The guy on the desk "Josh" (who was extremely plesant, hats off to him) tried and seemingly failed to let me pay for it like this as the system wouldn't let him.
He called in his I assume team leader whos name I didn't get and I explained to him what I was trying to do and the guy said "you can't do that" and so I said to him that you guys had indeed told me I could and produced the email response to my question.
He took it away with him to show someone and came back and told me that he'd give the tickets to me "this time but I had to consider myself told that it can't be done"...
So I'm now rather curious as to what is going on, I bought my premier points card in good faith that if I bought the ultimate package I'd have enough points from the outset for a free ticket, there is nothing in the terms and conditions that I can see that says you can't use it with Orange Wednesday and you guys have indeed confirmed that it "should" be possible to do this.
Now I've got a card with a bunch of points on that I'm not sure when I'll use as generally Wednesday nights are the time I go to the Odeon and I'm rather perturbed that I'm not going to be able to use the points I've accrued to ensure I could see any film I wanted to.
Please can you look into this and let me know exactly what the score is, if it IS possible to do it please can you also let me know how so that I may pass this information on to the people at the till and I won't feel so silly (holding all the people behind me up) and feel like a "righteous consumer" (which I have to say I didn't like) again please.
All in all it's a great scheme to have but if something as obvious as this can't be done it really should be in the T's and C's somewhere so that people like myself don't get caught standing at the front of a rather large queue again.
Thanks in advance for listening and I hope to hear from you soon.
Simon

And was responded to by another personDear Simon,
Thank you for your email regarding ODEON Premier Club Card. Unfortunately Orange Wednesday 2-4-1 can not be use in conjunction with another offer.
I hope this helps and I would like to apologise for the confusion within this matter, I thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,

So I think my run of 7 free tickets should come to an end now but I think moving forward things like this should really be explained properly.....0 -
Sorry for all the inconvenience this has caused you and it is a shame that you were not informed of the restriction when you purchased the card.
At least the matter is settled until Orange decide to change their terms and conditions or Odeon find a way round it. For the moment I suppose you can always collect points or spend them on food/drink or when you don't go on Orange Wednesdays.
Again sorry to anyone who was not informed of the restriction.0 -
Hi everyone,
I am currently an employee at one of the Odeon cinemas where these cards have proved very popular and I thought I would note down some helpful tips as they should apply to all Odeons.- Points will not expire so long as you use them once every 2 years. By use I mean you have to spend some points on something once every 2 years or you will lose all of your points. This is not really that big an issue to overcome.
That seems a bit wrong. I would have thought that your points would not expire so long as a transaction happens once every 2 years, e.g. if you stopped going cinemas regularly, you may be accumulating points but not spending them.

For the most part gift vouchers are restrictive in the sense that you can only use them in Odeon cinemas but they do work in any Odeon and act as cash - you receive change from them and they can be used to purchase anything (with the exception of the OPC card). Most people nowadays I think buy them as gifts for others who they know enjoy film or for those they want to have come to the cinema.
Ha! In the old days, most cinemas would not accept card at the food counters and so people bought gift vouchers with their cinema tickets and then took the gift voucher to the food counter to pay for the food! LOL

Hi all,
Can I use an Adult Admit One ticket to gain entry into films like a Christmas Carol 3D?
Also, if I do, I assume I can use my points card to accumulate points?
Thanx

This may be a late reply but in answer to your question AMO - No you can no longer use an Admit One voucher to see a 3D film.
I say no longer because it used to be possible and the ticket system used to accept them but then all the vouchers changed (it's now in the T&Cs on the back) to reflect this restriction and so did the system. From what I can remember there are still some Admit One vouchers that do not have this restriction written on the back (I think they all expire in March 2010) and so Odeon is still honouring these for 3D films by comping whoever has the vouchers. I should say the comping has to be done by either a team leader or manager - the person at the box office cannot do this themselves.
I should also point out that Orange now will no longer permit Orange Wednesdays 241 on 3D films - Odeon is overlooking this (by absorbing the cost) and doing it anyway but this could change in the foreseeable future.0 -
You can get points when you use “Admit One” vouchers to pay for tickets. These are usually supplied by some companies to their employees at £3-£4 each. When redeemed at Odeon you will get the points equivalent to the price of the ticket e.g. you use an “Admit One” voucher for a £8 ticket you will get 80 points meaning you essentially get 40-50 points more than what you paid for.
I was buying tickets just before Christmas with 'admit one' vouchers and was asked if I had a premiere card (which I don't yet). I enquired whether I could have used it when paying with the vouchers and was told no.
Is there anywhere on the Odeon website which confirms the above statement by vaxner or will I need to email for clarification?
Thanks0 -

Hi Homeburd,
In the Odeon Premiere Card T&Cs (section 15) it states:
"you cannot earn Points on: purchases via the Call Centre;....; purchases of loyalty cards, cinema vouchers, paper gift vouchers, and Stored Value cards; and purchases of products or services which you pay for with Points or vouchers."
meaning that technically you should not be able to get points with the Admit One vouchers but the system will actually allow it and give you them!
All the Odeon Cinema's use the same ticketing system and the system will accept it - I have first hand experience of this and have seen this for myself on countless occasions. If your local Odeon says that they cannot give you points ask them to politely try and put through the vouchers and then scan your points card and they will notice that it does indeed give you points. It is of course up-to-them whether they wish to honour this or not since technically this is a loophole.
I admit that Odeon head office has been sending out numerous updates recently to the ticketing system to address a lot of the loopholes but none as of yesterday (last time I worked at the ticket desk) have stopped Admit One vouchers giving you points.
I hope this helps and until they close this in the system I suggest you use the Admit One vouchers for as long as you can.
Oh the Odeon Premiere Card T&Cs are available on the Odeon Website under the relevant section.0 -

Thanks. Not sure why they don't continue it. Even with ordinary 2 for 1, it is honoured with the simple exception that the 3D part of the cost isn't covered.
So if you go to Vue and do a 2 for 1 for Avatar 3D, then the £6.40 part of the ticket is on 2 for 1, but you have to pay the extra £2.50 on both tickets for 3D.0 -
Does anyone know which items to spend points on to get the most out of your Odeon points?
Thanx
