Reclaimed PPI using I-Smart consumer Services

Hi all, i tried reclaiming PPI on my husband's Halifax credit card. Halifax sent me the usual letter saying we didn't have a claim so i stupidly used a claims company called I-Smart, they are regulated by the ministry of justice.
Their fee's were 10% + VAT of the reclaimed amount + the interest. Halifax settled in full and gave us a very nice sum, the problem i have is because it was on a credit card obviously we paid interest on that card for the time that we had a balance on it. Now I-Smart are saying that they are entitled to that interest plus the 8% compensation interest but my arguement is that is interest that i paid.
Can anybody give me any advice on this or has anyone else had any dealings with this company?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance.

Did you have any terms and conditions of this in anything you signed with them when they took on your complaint? OR is it a "hidden" clause maybe????

If this is them they do have a complaints procedure

As Marshallka says, make a complaint through their complaints procedure. If you don't get a satisfactory response then make a complaint to the ministry of justice about i-smart.

My advice would be never to use a claims management company and from experience i-smart seem to be one of the worst.
  • Hi, thanks for your replies. It does say in the contract that my husband signed that they are entitled to the interest recovered but surely the interest that i paid on the credit card doesn't count, i'm more than happy to let them have the 8% compensation interest, i'm very confused!
Having spoke to them again i've advised them to start court action as Halifax paid us direct so its a case of us owing them not the other way round.
