Buying Spices.

Hi folks,
I just wanted to say that I save a fortune this weekend by buying my spices from a local indian food store. I paid 59p - 69p for 100g of several spices, and when I went to asda and sainsbury's they were about the same preice and sometimes double the cost for half of the quantity!!
I made the most wonderful curry ever - following curry queens recipes ( do a search) and I will never buy another takeaway again. I cant believe the difference it made - so authentic. Of course now my OH and kids have been spoilt for life!!! I'll never be able to use a jar again:rotfl:
estimated cost of hm curry about £6 for 5 people including pilau rice, naan, butter chicken and onion bhaji's ( reduced chicken at £2.20 kg) it made more and at least one portion has been frozen.
half of the basic curry sauce has been frozen too. feeleing very good about myself.:A
cost at takeaway £45 ish savings of £39
not a bad saving eh :T

the other great place to go is the chinese supermarket.
you get all the fabulous chinese aromatic spices for the same sort of price you've already mentioned for you indian ones.
there's also tubs of curry concentrate for about £1-£1.50 which make curry for 2 about 6-7 times. for those nights when you want a curry in 10 minutes!0 -
I buy them either from my local whole/healthfood shop or if I am low on lots of spices from an online seller. No asian/chinese selllers here.
I dont think I have bought them from a supermarket in more years than some of you are old!
I make a delish quick curry sauce found on line, if I am out of the batch sauce (as per curry queen)0 -
