Just purchased a friends and family card and booked a journey to London, I can only use the card if I book for 2 adults and a child, but does the child have to travel with us?
A booking for two adults on it's own was £22, with a child it was £16.60, but will we get a penalty charge if the child isn't with us when we travel?

You only get a penalty charge if there was a ticket office open where you got on the train, but you will have to buy new full fare tickets if there is no child with you!
(You can take a baby/toddler as the child - even though they can normally travel without a ticket)0 -
You will get a penalty fare which will be a lot more than the £22 you have been quoted.
Please read the T&Cs of ALL railcards as im sick to death of people who try to cheat by using them and then pleading ignorance when they get caught and have to pay a PFone of the famous 50
