Need help re-refund

Hi Guys,

Bit of background first -

I had 3 auctions ending on the 11th of September and was going away to South Africa that day. My boyfriend sent the 2 items on the following Monday (14th) for me and has kept the receipts as they were sent recorded.

Anyway the 1st arrived and the buyer left feedback the next day.
I came back on the 26th to find about 5 emails from the 2nd buyer asking where the item was, shes wants a refund and postage refund.

I replied explaining I was in South Africa and the item was sent recorded, and the tracking was showing that the item was being returned, as I spoke to the Royal Mail and they said no-one was in to sign for it, and it wasnt collected at the postoffice, so was being returned to myself. She said fair enough, just send it back down (not recorded) as she works away alot, so im waiting for the parcel to arrive, it did on the thursday(1st of October) but I was at work so wasnt in to sign for it.

I went to the post office on the Saturday morning (48hours I need to wait) to be told, thats over 2 weeks worth of parcels haven't been sent back to the sorting office due to the strikes. Its now 13 days after they have tried to deliver it and it still isnt back at the post office.

She has sent am email this morning asking for a refund as she is leaving the country in 4 weeks and has better things to sort out!

I have only started selling things and this is the first problem I have ever had. I have kept her up-to-date with emails, and I am calling the post office everyday to see if it has been taken back, which it hasn't.

What do I do?

Do I refund the whole amount including postage? Or only the jeans? It isnt my fault she wasnt in to sign for them, or she didnt collect them. I dont want to be left out of pocket as im really skint just now, and cant afford the postage refund until the end of the month.

Paypal says its dealing with the dispute. Should I call them and explain? I have been in contact with her through ebay emails, not paypal.

Any help would be really appreciated. As I dont know what to do:o

Thanks

  • Oh also, should I refund the full £6 that the jeans cost or take away the fees that I have been charged?

    Thanks again

The RM often don't leave a card, so the buyer may well not have known that the item was waiting to be collected. The rest of the trouble pretty much semms to be RM's fault too. Really a full refund is the fairest thing.

If she didn't sign for the package, then you should only have to refund her the cost of the jeans, and not the cost of the postage. I would phone paypal just to clarify the situation that the item is being returned to sender for non-collection.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I would never sell things just before you go on Holiday. I stop selling 10 days before I go. Even if someone is sending parcels for you if anything goes wrong its just not worth the hassle
  • Yeah im really regretting it now. I'll make sure I never do it again. Its been so much hassel. I'll call paypal on my lunch. xx

Does anyone know the number for paypal? I've tried calling 020 8605 3000, that I got off say no to 0870.com but each option is just telling me to go through the contact us email part on ebay or the same on paypal. Its like they dont want to talk to people.

    Thanks

You need to log in to your paypal and get contact details from there as they will also give you a pin number thingy as well.

thats what I did yesterday, but instead of the 0870 number thats given, I used the one above that I got from saynoto0870.com

It was just coming up with 3 option 1 - telling me to go onto ebay and email them through their contact us part, 2- the same but paypal and 3 regarding marketing?

I'll send them an email and see what the outcome is.
