Virgin BT to bank then back to card?

Hi, I have just been offered 0% BT with Virgin with 2.98 handling fee, offered over the phone from a cold call.
I have £9K balance and an £18k credit limit. She said she could transfer £9k to my bank (making my card balance 18K), then I pay the same card off with the £9k to reduce my interest till June 2010. Does this work, surely the interest rate would stay the same?
She was trying to tell me something about a loophole, but very cagey as she wasnt allowed to, what am I missing please?
