Problems securing wireless network

Hi all,

Any help with this would be appreciated. I bought a Linksys Wireless G ADSL Home Gateway recently and set it up without problems. However I set it up as unsecured. Now trying to secure it and having real problems. When i set an encryption key it shows as being secured but when i try to connect through laptop it doesn't let me even when i put in the key it just tells me i need to use ascii charachters or hex?

I have now reconfigured for open access in the meantime but now having problems with it disconnecting every 10 minutes or so.

To compound the problem I cant access 192.168.1.1. as i what i thought was my user name and pword dont work. Have tried admin but it keeps telling me authorisation required.

Please help!!

make sure caps lock is not on
if this doesn't work then i would suggest you reset to factory setting and reprogram, that way you can start a fresh, and setup how you like

Caps definirely not on. If I reset to factory settings will that allow me to acess 192.168.1.1. with admin?

Bit concerned I reset and then can't reconfigure because I cant access their page.

    What do you think?

is there a reset button on the router, a small hole that you get a paper clip in or such. there was on my dynamode router and netgear. press and hold till the router lights flash and then release and it should restore to factory fresh - ie default user and pass. are you sure it is admin admin ? most routers are admin password.
This is not an automated signature. I write this at the bottom of every message

Yes it will. Hold the reset button in for 10 seconds to reset.

Thanks to all. Reset to factory settings and was able to log on to linksys set up. Have now secured wireless with 128 bit encryption. Funny thing is that although my laptop is connecting it is showing as not connected in my icons at bottom right of screen. Not sure if this is a problem or not.

UPDATE - Also disconnecting periodically - most annoying
