Capital One Card Upgrade

Dear all,

I currently am in the posession of the Capital One Classic Visa Credit Card.

Just had a limit increase of £1,000 as i've maintained my account within the 4 months of having the card.

Ive just seen the 'Capital One Progress Card' is it worth ringing them up to see if they can upgrade me to that card. Or do i cancel this card and re-apply for a new card.

I did apply for a Virgin card a few months back, obviously it was a straight decline due to my salary etc.

As im sure there is no guarantee i could even the card if i am correct, or is it worthy to build up my credit worthiness with this Classic card for a year or so without missing payments or anything and ensuring then i can apply for a mainstream card. Note this is my first ever credit card, any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Regards

    Capital one don't let you:

Apply for a card it you already have one with them
Let you apply if you've applied already in the last six months
Let you re-open an account with them within six months of closing one with them]

So the only way to get the Progress card would be to close your Classic account, wait six months, and then re-apply.

You could call them to see if they can upgrade you, or at least find out if an upgrade would be possible once you've held the card for a bit longer, but I don't think you can. Be careful whilst you are on the phone to them and don't let them run a credit check on you! They can be a bit sneaky in this regard.

You don't have to wait six months, as I settled my cap one classic in october and got approved for a progress card today :)
