This is a moneysaving forum in case you hadn't noticed. It's not money saving to move money around pointlessly.CCStar wrote:It is up to me when and how often I wish to move my money and I am aware of the interest issue. So why ask me this question? What was the intention of that reply?
I am already angry and the reply has raised the blood pressure further!
I am complaining that it takes so long to clear and their email system/response is inefficient. I am in the right area on this forum to do this. Plenty of other people complain about organisations but I get aggro for stating how I feel.
If you think this is aggro, you have a very low threshold of pain.
You are welcome to argue that B&B's e-mail response system is useless - that's your opinion.
But B&B's explanation of why they cannot allow funds to be drawn against for 6 working days when deposited by DD is absolutely reasonable. Banks have to take sensible precautions against fraud, and that's what they are doing.

IvanOpinion wrote:There are 2 stages in clearing an amount .. many people especially eBayers are being caught out by this. It was once explained to me but I did not fully understand. Apparently after the first stage the funds will show up in your account however the original bank/party still has a means to cancel whereupon the money will be reversed out. This effects eBayers because they have a habit of shipping when they see the money in the account ... I know somebody who lost a £3500 motorbike this way .. money appeared, bike shipped, money disappeared.
I am led to believe there a plans afoot to tighten up on this but currently most banks seem to use 6 working days (which is probably designed to ensure it takes in a weekend guaranteeing them the money for 8 days .. or maybe (more likely?) the final clearing batch systems actually get run at the weekends hence why they must ensure the time period encompasses a weekend). Try lodging on a Thursday and see if it is cleared on Mon/Tue?
I know you are just venting but MaryMark did offer you sound advice - Nothing I don't know already

Thank you for the information about ebay and the information in your second paragraph. . You obviously know your stuff! The last bit about the advice was rather patronising
I transferred the money on the previous Sunday 14th, it showed it leaving my account on Monday 15th and wasn't available until the 22nd. In the past I have done this, money was available on the following Thursday.
I emailed them wondering what was going on, as it showed it being there but not available. I have never had this happen before, so emailed them first, before venting on here but got no reply until Sunday. I was not happy with the tone of it either, given I have emailed before and got no reply. They don't send an automated confirmation receipt, nor show copies of what you write, you can't print it as has too little space and you end up having to scroll and half is showing.
I do know it is non money saving to move accounts but the account I moved it from one that had a much lower rate of interest. I move my money very rarely except in this instance. I wasn't planning to move it out immediately and know that it isn't money saving to do this. I was worried why it was showing it being there but not available for so long.
I vent on here, so if anyone who does work or have any connection with the organisation will pass it on or if anyone has the same problem they can state how they feel. .
It is not a personal criticism towards any MSE member but I feel I am being chastised by long standing MSE members for expressing my dissatisfaction towards an organisation or suggesting any element that could be improved.
As a customer I feel my views should be understood, not put down. It confirms my opinion that the company isn't as good as it should be. Customers deserve better but if companies think they are above caring for customers, then they have themselves to blame when I see them going downhill. I have seen once good companies go this way due to bad customer service so many times.
I have probably wasted my time saying this as I shall probably get some nasty put down.An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T
