Morning all,
Looking for some advice really. Holidayed in Bonny Scotland last year, went walking in the woods, came across this fantastic plant, it was like a dinosaur plant, huge!! Anyhow, have since found out that its Gunnera, and I want one. I bought some seeds, planted them, but nothing happened. What i'd like to know is.... has anyone bought any on-line, my local garden shops don't have any, infact the garden people at my local b n q looked at me as if i'd just asked them if they had any crack-cocaine!!! Can anyone point me to a reputable dealer / good seller /reasnoble priced seller of these plants?? Have made do with rhubarb for the time being but I simply have to have gunera, its amazing.
Thanks y'all.

I bought one in a 1.5 litre pot for £7.99 locally, those above seem expensive to me. I have a photo of one at Inverurie Gardens that was enormous, the whole family got under a leaf. They do apparently need lots of sun and dung.

Thats v cheap Mr P, must say I dont really want to be spending a lot on something I'm not sure I can grow... my neighbour has a row of god awful conifers which sap the soil, and my poor lawn. However, I did get some rhubarb, next best thing I suppose, and planted that in a whole load of well rotted horse muck, and its coming along well. What would you reccomend muck wise?? Is well rotted horsepoo ok, I know there's loads of diff kinds of animal crap you can get. A wifey up the road uses chicken poo- and it stinks, poo-wee!!RIP Floyd - 19/04/09. They grow best in wet ground on the edge of a pond for instance and want to be in damp soil all the time. I think you might need to make a bog garden if you have not got a pond. They can be huge if the conditions are right!0

Still going strong next to the shed away from the sun.
I have been to Abbotsbury Sub-tripical Gardens a few times and they have them for sale more often than not. They have some H U G E ones in their grounds, like giant umbrellas. Check em out or phone em for mail order:-
