Hi,
I'm currently at stage 2. I sent off the first letter they sent back a questionnaire which i completed. The i gave them 9 weeks with no response. I sent the second letter threatening the ombudsman, they said they needed more time and to be patient. Which is rich considering my first letter was sent on the 27th july. They also gave me a phone number if i want to discuss the matter further, has anyone had similar and spoke to them or do you think i should push on with the ombudsman claim?
Any advice greatly appreciated.:o

Hi there
You could ring if you wanted to, but its always best to have everything in writing also, in case you need to refer to it at a later date, where you have this for proof, so always keep copies for this purpose.
You can wait for a response if you want, but your still entitled to take your case to the financial ombudsman service (FOS) as well, as the 8 weeks have still passed.
You could if you want to, give them your own personal timescale from here, say 14 days, then if you hear nothing then move on to the FOS.
Good luck and hope you receive some good news soon, please let us know when you hear, cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi Princebuster,
I am helping a friend and he has also just received a letter from Northern Rock and Abbey saying that they need 4 more weeks to provide a final response.
Sent them both a letter on 4th August and only just received this letter. Like you we are unsure whether to give them more time or simply move onto the FOS?
Di can you advise please? My gut instinct is to wait for a final decision but just wondered what others thought???
Many thanks

Hello there
I would give them a ring, and ask them what sort of timescale are you looking at, I know what you mean though, it could be that you move on to the FOS, then suddenly you will hear something - which may be positive news.
You could as I say to many, give them your own timescale, say 7, 14 or maybe as much as 21 days which is in my own personal opinion more than ample time for them to deal with this matter.;)
Hope this helps hun, but as you know - your entitled to move on to the FOS, just as long as the 8 weeks have passed, good luck and keep us posted, cheers.
