Sound Interference TV

Anybody have any idea what could sort my problem out?
When I watch TV through my DVD recorder there is background interference (hissing) and you have to have the sound up really loud.
I don't get this problem when watching a DVD, or when watching TV through the ariel or the NTL box.

I've had audio problems a couple of times (bad quality/no sound) with my Sky box. Both times, I changed the scart lead and this cured it.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
