Has anyone noticed the new CapitalOne Credit Cards? One for balance transfers and one for 0% purchases. One seas for people with a good credit rating, the other a very good credit rating.
Maybe they're a step up from the classic, but lower then the Premium Plus card.

Apart from the top card, max limits of £2,500 - maybe this is something that other providers will introduce too?0

I think their new lineup is brilliant.
They don't allow anyone except those for an impeccable credit history to borrow a lot of money, and they provide a tiered interest rate card for someone who may have had a spate of missed payments in the past but doesn't want to be tarred with the same brush as someone who may have defaulted before.
An excellent lineup and I'm glad they have sensible top limits, and that they reward good customers with lowering APRs as long as the account is kept in order.
Excellent for those wanting to make the transition from sub-prime to prime, I think

It is an excellent idea...I particularly like the capital one progress....where APR is reduced each stages as long the account is maintained in good order.
The key question is will people be able to transfer classic to progress after good credit management or the classic account must be closed and a wait of 6 months before trying for the capital one progress?0 -

I take it you got the capital one progress? Have you got any nasties on credit file or it is free of defaults?0 -

I think it is something other lenders should consider and follow capital one's proposals.... It is definitely in the right direction for capital one.
Visa for sub prime and mastercard for those who have a good credit history0 -
I'm glad I got rid of my Capital One Classic. I qualify for the new Capital One Plus but I don't know if I should apply or not. The limit I got before was small.
I may just focus on growing my Sygma card collection. They seem to be generous with their limits. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Capital One are a bit of a sore point with me.
I have been with them since March 03, had one of their Tiger Cards, then my card was used on The Internet without my permission, so it was stopped and their "new" style card issued out.
Their Interest Rate when I first began was high, then over time with excellent payments and card useage it reduced, then two months ago, as with most people, I received a letter stating their interest rates were going up, not just 1%, but a whopping 10%, so I ended up back at square one, talk about going full-circle.
Capital One should concentrate on their loyal long-term customers, instead of doing fancy cards, that benefit absolutely nobody.0 -
to me it sounds like the older card they had and the capital one platinum card they also had (which i got in november 08, pretty much same guidelines for the top one as when i applied for it, (ie they stated that you must have a card already with £6000 limit, no missed payments, excellent credit rating etc.)MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0
