Farm shops

what are your experiences/thoughts on Farm shops near you, can you recommend a good one? Around here they can be a bit hit and miss quality wise.
What really struck me was how conditioned I have been to seeing all the fruit/veg of a similar shape and size in the supermarkets and how what I first though was mis-shapen was natural!
I seem to be having lightbulb moments all over at the moment, am like Oxford Street christmas lights!

Our farm shop is great, but check your farm shop - it does not neccessararily mean its organic.
But I agree about the conditioning!0 -
here in sheffield, i dont think there is a farm shop within about a 20 mile radius! we get the farmers market once a month, but by the time i get there, they rarely have much left! one of the local farms has a shop but it opens at strange times...and as a nurse, after finishing a night shift i dont fancy having to trek out of my way just to get there when its open!wading through the treacle of life!

I've yet to try one, I've been doing a few search and there seems to be a few here in Leicester.0

Quite a few in north staffordshire, we usually buy excellent meat, veg and even prepacked meals from Cheerbrooks near Nantwich, haven't tried any but apparantly they also have award winning sausages0

I have only ever been in one and yes it does take a bit of getting used to in some ways. I really did not realise how used to everything being perfect and shiney i had become, especially as i grew up in a family that grew alot of fruit and vegtables.
Unfortunately we do not have one close by anymore and not even a farmers market.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

We've stopped using our local farm shop. It used to be great - lots of local produce at very reasonable prices. Not organic, but I think that local is more important.
Recently, it's shifted to organic food - nearly all of which is shipped in from the continent - defeating the point of the farm shop for me, especially as their prices have doubled as a result (in some cases they've quadrupled!) It's now been relegated to the occasional treat shop - and we're now shopping at a local greengrocer, which at least has some fruit and veg grown in this country!0 -
We have quite a few in West Yorkshire. The one I use is my favourite shop, although small it has counter selling cooked meats (cooked on the premises) pies (sweet and savoury) made local, small selection of bread, lots of cheeses sourced locally, pickles, jams and sauces, cold drinks eg dandelion and burdock, cloudy lemonade. A fantastic butchers counter, fruit and veg, milk, yoghurts and cream, eggs and treats eg handmade fudge. The service is great and they carry your bags out to the car for you if needed. I do have to go in the car and I shop there about twice a week, this shop is what finally convinced me to ditch the supermarkets and shop local.MFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13
