Hi. We have a white electric meter fitted & use our washing machine/tumble drier/dishwasher at night. Having got confused as to the 'cheap' hours that the white meter operated for I spoke to a nice man on energyhelpline.com who took my postcode (Guildford) & said as we are in SEE Board area (despite paying our bills through Eon) the hours at the moment on BST are 11.30pm - 01.30am & then 03.30am - 08.30am but not between 01.30 & 03.30, that was at the normal full rate!! This doesn't seem to make sense & if it does I've been wasting money for years & so probably are lots of others. Can anyone confirm that this is correct please? I have tried to ask Eon on several occaisions but get a different answer each time. Thankyou.

Adjacent to your meter will be a either a mechanical timeswitch or a radio switching devise.
If it is a mecanical timeswitch you will see a 24hour dial. There should be a pointer indicating the time it is at at that moment in time. This should be the actual time, but mechanical time swiches can vary because they were either set wrong in the first place or through time they have speeded up or slowed down. You will also see indicators on the rotating dial which show when the night rate switches in and out.
If it is a radio device your distribution company (your suplier will not have the accurate information) will confirm the actual times.
Always chek the times you are getting the cheaper rate, as your lifestyle, and the use of timeswiches may enable you to make savings on a E7 tarriff (especially if you get the cheap rate to 08.30) even without electric heating.0 -

Hi Topcat2007 :hello:
From the info you have given it looks like you have been advised correctly, electricity is supplied at a cheaper rate between 11.30pm -1.30am then 3.30-8.30 BST and 10.30-12.30am and 2.30-7.30am GMT.
As Haarlem says, you could contact your local distribution company to check, as they have control over the times, the number for your area is 01293 577 277.
Hope this helps you.
