    It was Superdrug

No, toplover was correct: the original newsletter article said Morrisons also had this offer. I also went into a Morrisons today (Oxted), and they had no idea what I was talking about - so it seems that this offer might not be taking place everywhere.

There are now two threads on this. Here's the other one. Can they be combined and perhaps even made a sticky?

I have just phoned Morrison's customer services (0800 on 20/11/09). I was told that the stamps should be available at the discounted price. I asked who the store should contact if I had problems and was told that they had all been fully briefed. I will ask in-store customer services before attempting purchase of stamps later today.
  • Costco sell 1st, Large 1st and 2nd class stamps at about 5-10% off RRP, in bulk packs of 40-60 stamps (depending on denomination). I stocked up before last April's price hike and still have plenty left. Will definitely do the same again this year.

However my new best buy for stamps is to use Ocado... they sell stamps and are also offering 15% off voucher (see today's MSE news). So why not top up your shopping with first class stamps? If you ask for delivery after 10pm it's usually free as well, and you can buy smaller quantities. Unlike Costco, Ocado let you pay by credit card too.

Wish I'd known that, just did an order with 15% off!
  • For those who are not Ocado or Costco ists, I AmEx cashback credit card bought 240 1st class stamps today from my local Superdrug , 20 books of 12. And Yes,I did ask what they maximum I could have 1st. That was all she had in her till today.
So if you don't ask , or assume the maximum is 72 per day , you don't get!

    Happy MSEing....

Send a letter Recorded Signed For to a large-ish company. If you don't have a legitimate complaint, such as "Dear T-Mobile, I have had a contract with you for 12 months and have yet to receive an invitation to a dance flash mob", give them some praise instead: "Dear LloydsTSB, I really like your ads showing the fantasy land where all your customers are happy".

Since Royal Mail hardly ever get a signature from these companies, complain to them that your signed receipt hasn't yet appeared on the Royal Mail Track'n'Sniff.

Follow-up a month later, complaining that you haven't received a response to your complaint. Eventually they will send you a book of 12 1st-class stamps to "resolve" your problem.
That's an awful lot of dodgy effort for £3 :P

even more so if it tracks as delivered
  • There are online dealers who sell stamps at a significant discount to the face value all of the time, no vouchers, or guesswork required. I use them for postage to send ebay sales and it saves me loads. Just search for 'discount stamps' or similar and you will find them.
