Moving a boiler flue

I need to move a boiler flue up by about 4 inches. is this possible as a DIY job or do i need a gas safe plumber?

    not a diy job at all actually illegal for you to diy not to mention potentially legal if you get it wrong - www,gassaferegister.co.uk

    If you are competent, it is not illegal to work on your own gas appliances.

    You only need to be gas safe registered if you are employed to work on someone else's appliances (or possibly where others have access to the building, e.g. places of work, rented property, etc)

    However, as you have to ask, it doesn't sound like you are competent ... so best to employ someone who is ;)

    Factually correct. the statutory instrument is however blind on the word competent.

    very good answer.

    you could consider arranging a service and say that you are intending to move the flue yourself beforehand, they will then check it and may give helpfull hints. But I would suggest you stick with the advice above.
