Free meal warning scam

Beware of this terrible terrible scam:eek:.

I just had a bloke at my door saying that a lot of the local restaurants are giving out vouchers for free meals and wondering if I was interested.

I said of course I am, :jan OAP like me needs all the freebies he can get.

So he gave me a leaflet with a list of local restaurants and then said all I need is £20 :eek: and I will give you the vouchers.

I said I thought the meals were free and he said they are I just need £20.

I said that's not free, free is when you don't pay anything you are trying to con me out of £20.

He got a bit flustered and said I'm sorry you feel that way about it and beat a ghasty retreat.

So beware of doorstep callers offering free meals

Just what I thought.

(Basically the coupons are worthless and/or the restaurants don't even exist, but he's earned his £20 and legged it before you find out.)

What a cheeky little !!!!!! - Glad you were on youor toes - i read our local rag about some old folk getting duped in the sheltered housing by mine the other week.
