How else can you get rid of your rubbish? If it's builders rubble then I guess you can't.
However, do you have a load of metal items? If so, at least phone a rag and bone man and get him to take them away. If you're feeling really money oriented then take them to the local scrap yard yourself why not?
Could the other items fit in the back of a car and go to the tip?
    What about Freecycle?
Can you hire a trailer and tip at your local tip?
Can you buy a trailer tht you need for the cost of the skip, and use it to go to the tip?

If you still need a skip, as has been said before, a lot of places will let you have it for as locg as you need it. Most punters like to have a quick turnaround, so skips out on hire is not a huge problem to them. The only real cost the companies incurr is when they have to come and remove it as they then have to empty it and pay tipping charges.

    Phone them and ask.

When booking the skip, ask if there's a reduction for paying in cash.
Pound notes talk, as they say.
You pay less - the skip owner pockets the cash, you're both happy.

I found the cheapest place around and then asked for a price for cash.
Cash price seemed to be about 17.5% cheaper.

Also make sure you get the right size skip. I have found the price per cubic yard tends to be very similar for 4 or 6 yard skip but 2 yard skips are almost the same total price as a 4 yard so I either make sure I have enough for a 4 yard ( or get a 6 yard rather than running out of space on a 4 yard and having to get a 2 yard) or share with a neighbour.
