Hi
Does anyone have any experiance of a Barclays Cash Card Account?
I have been with the Co-op since I was declared BR but there service is appalling so I am looking to change.
Barclays have said I can have a cash account 6 months after being Discharged which will be at the end of October.
Thanks for any help
Andy

Is the cash card account the most basic if so thats what I have.
I hate Barclays and am moving to the Co Op.
Barclays No internet banking, no telephone banking, no access to the kiosk to obtain a decent statement printout. Staff constantly try to refer me to internet/telephone banking and pry when I can access can not be granted. In the end when pressed I just say cos Im bankrupt and they shut up. Not ideal in a quiet branch when the whole of the town know each other.0 -
I opened the Barclays account a couple of months ago, its their basic one, have not had any problems so far...also i have internet banking with it, its a debit card, and i have direct debits going out of it to.0

thats weird. I have been extremely impressed with them. Telephone banking is excellent. Care to share what happened?
I am thinking about getting a barclays account as well, just so i can have a full debit card (not coops visa debit electron card)
wonder if it will be a problem as they were a creditor when i went BRAD - 23/04/2010

That's interesting about having online access as when my OH opened his CardCash account abt 2 years ago, online banking was a definite no-no.
Maybe it's come in recently along with the debit card.
Thanks for the info :beer:0 -
I have been given permission to use my account as went BR today, just need to let Barclays know...although they knew why i was opening it in the first place...just hope i can keep the internet banking, i hate going into town0

Barclays internet and telephone are a no no when undischarged. They started to set me up a few months ago and as soon as bankruptcy indicator went on I had a letter pulling both.0

Barclays staff will tell you that you can have online banking with this account, but as soon as the bankruptcy marker goes on your account it will be taken away from you. There have been some here who have managed to escape the BR marker and keep online banking but they are in the minority.
The debit card is the best thing about this account - it does work in places the coop (electron, essentially) one doesn't - but if online banking is important, stick with the coop.
You will get the online banking back after discharge though, if you can survive a year (possibly less if you're lucky enough to get early discharge) without it though.
Cheers

I could still use telephone banking but it did put me through to India each time I wanted to check my balance. Couldn't use the automated system though but that wasn't such a big problem when I could speak to someone on the phone anyway.
Worst bit was their bloomin insurance hard sell every time I rang up!BR 08/04/09 | ED 02/10/09

They wont even give me my balance on the phone. just looked at my co op card. Its a visa debit like my barclays one. Does that mean I wont be able to use it at pay at pump?0
