PCN? Madness! - Private parking query Help Pls!

Hello There,

Just wondered if anyone has been in this same predicament, as am fighting tooth n nail presently!

I parked my car in a shopping complex car park, which I understand to be private (MET Parking Services is their name). I went and bought the ticket, put it on my dashboard, and when I came back, found a PCN on my windscreen. This PCN stated that my purchased ticket was face down and therefore its validity not evident.
When I put the tkt on the dashboard, I am quite sure it was face up and can only presume when I went to shut the door it blew over. I caught the patrol officer and told him my ticket was valid and showed him. He said he could not revert it himself, but to write it in and it would be sorted? Yea, right. I foolishly believed this, so having written two letters, before coming across Martin's website, not putting in the word 'appeal' just that I was horrified they would still want to charge me £50, even though I have sent them both tickets, my bought tkt clearly showing my time was still valid when I was written up. Both their replys came back saying I had contravene their condition of use, and both came with the slip attachment for payment, which I have duly ignored.

I would appreciate anyones reply on this who has been in the same/similar position and what their outcome was. Also, does it make sense to use Martin's reply template, which he has kindly put on his site, or just ignore now?

Thanks in advance

  • Ignore them from now on. Of course they will reject your appeal, as the process is not independent.
  • I have been in this position many times, though not with this particular PPC. You dont owe them a penny, and you are best ignoring them completely.
Contacting these parasites only encourages them to pester you, and it also saves them paying a £2.50 bribe to our friends at Swansea for the name and address of the registered keeper.
Have a good read on here about private parking companies and you will soon realise it is a scam. Expect a deluge of mail from Met, their associated debt collectors and dodgy solicitors. Ignore it all, and if you get worried about it come back here.

Roar1 - if you look through this board at the numerous other threads, you'll see that hundreds and hundreds have been in the same position as yourself.

Just ignore the PPC from now on. You paid to park. They have lost nothing.
  • Thanks most kindly Sire,

I appreciate you coming back to me on these vermin. I really wish I had not written to them at all now. Ar well, let's hope the post box is not flooded for too long.

    Thanks again
