Does anyone know if this is correct?

Hi everyone, just wondering if you could help with this:
My fiance has a loan with RBS, and has PPI on the loan which we didnt realise he had until around a couple of weeks ago. I have sent the appropriate letter off from the template on here.
But, as soon as we realised he had the PPI he phoned up RBS to cancel it. They informed him that he could not do it over the phone and must go into a branch to do it. This is very difficult for him as he works away for 11 days at a time, and works from 7am til 5pm everyday. There is not an RBS close to where he works so it is physically impossible from him to go into the branch whilst he is away. This weekend he was home and he did not get the chance to go into an RBS branch either. Meaning he is now working away again and will have the pay the PPI for another month.
Is it correct that you cannot cancel PPI over the phone or are they just bein awkward?

Hi hun.;)
I would personally keep everything in writing, and it looks like their cancellation are to be done in writing also.
Write a letter on your hubby's behalf, post it out to him for ASAP for him to sign and then ask him to post back ASAP as well, as it looks like there is a postal strike in about 10 days from today.;) (Enclose a stamped Envelope for your hubby to send it to), he could also if he wanted to post by recorded delivery from the nearest post office if he has time to do this. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Your welcome hunni.;)
Are you going to reclaim the PPI back as well, or have you already requested for this.
If you not done this yet and plan to do so check the link below for more info, with templates etc, and ask for help when required, good luck.

Very annoying that , wishing you luck.;)
i have been paying this £40 per month interest since may when they canceled my ppi payments its really winding me up because by the time i get to an adjudicator with the fos i'm probably looking at at least another 12 months payments :mad:0 -
How long has it been with FOS now? For most complaints they are taking between 12 and 18 months and people have been posting they have taken on more adjudicators so many times and things are NOT quickening up for any of us... I agree it is annoying.i have been paying this £40 per month interest since may when they canceled my ppi payments its really winding me up because by the time i get to an adjudicator with the fos i'm probably looking at at least another 12 months payments
Mine went to FOS against the wrong person in April 2008 and from then on it took until October for FOS to say who the complaint lay with and then its still waiting now.0 -
We cancelled our ppi with a letter, we got a reply within a week but with the RBS I think once it transfers to another dept the communications start to breakdown, the reply letter said that it would be transfered to their Insurance people and they would be in touch, that was back in July and we still haven't had any confirmation of the cancellation. But they have stopped taking the loan payments from our account!!0

I would contact the RBS PPI Concerns team directly in Manchester (send any correspondence by recorded mail). They have been quite good at communicating, although the timescales were initially quite drawn out but recently things appear to have been speeded up. They dealt with the cancelling and refund all in one.0
