Should i bother, am i wrong ??

Ive recently purchased a ring from ebay at a very low price.

I paid my money being fully aware i wasnt likely to be getting what was described ( an 18k .5 carot natural diamond ring ) I am happy with the ring its nice enough but I have got a little annoyed that this person is advertising something which it clearly isnt.

some people are paying up to a £100

Ive complained to paypal and got a rather short email from the seller saying he would refund just send the ring back ( he has already confirmed its not genuine ) but its going to cost me to return it to get a refund.

what would you do ??

I cant help feeling all principally about it, i hate people screwing others over.

You say that you are happy with the ring, why are you wanting a refund?

Well because although the ring is nice to look at , I bought an 18k natural diamond ring and received a CZ plated ring . there is a big difference .

If i was selling a ticket to the world cup and you bought it and on delivery its was a reserved seat at the local pub to watch sky tv wouldnt you be a bit miffed ?? (you still get to watch the match, isnt that what you wanted??)

Im not really after a refund but if others get penalised for this and it breaks ebay policy shouldnt someone stop them ?

I totally understand where you're coming from but you said in your first post that you were fully aware that you wouldn't be getting what was being described. I don't understand why you placed a bid?

If you don't want your money back, you could leave negative feedback for the seller as a warning to other potential bidders.

Yeah, I know what you are saying, who is stupid enough to think they can get a diamond ring for under a tenner ?? ( yup a tenner !!!!! )

But then some people are that stupid and It bugs the hell out of me that people take advantage out of the people who may not think bad of others, I bid because even though its just a fake its still really nice, I bid thinking well if its real, great, if not, never mind.

their feedback has become private since i won the auction, with a couple of negs to boot.

guess i should stop trying to save the world, and correct those who scam !!!

awww I think it's commendable that you are looking out for others.

You could still leave a factual feedback rating. I think there is a way that you can view someone's feedback even if it's set to private.
