I've been trying to find out more about this job grant; I've been signing on since January but now finally have a full time job which I'm due to start next week; just wondered what you have to do to get it as the last 3 times I've signed off and got a job, I've never received or been offerd this.0

I got the £100 job grant, but it didnt come through for about 9 weeks after i started my job! And then i had to call them several times to get it. So i was nearly due for my 2nd pay packet before i received it. I'd say ask them if you qualify when you tell them about your new job.
I think its paid to everyone who has been claiming benefits for over 26 weeks (but am not sure if certain benefits have different rules) and i think it can only be claimed once.
As i knew that i would not have any money for 5 weeks, i lived on as cheap a budget as possible, basically tesco value foods, packed lunches etc. I basically went to work and then straight home and did not go out etc at all.
It is hard for the 1st few weeks, but SO worth it when you finally do receive your 1st paycheque.0 -

you only get this if you are named on the tenancy.0 -
As above posts guys, you need to be on benefit for 26 weeks (6 months) with NO breaks, suspensions, sanctions, disallowances then you will get £100 or £250 for lone parents.0

Donna, you need to be named on the TA to get HB/CTB in the first place anyway.
Simon, you're correct. That's what I've been told although this is going to be the 4th time I've come off JSA after a 6 month period and manaaged to get a job; I've never yet received any job grant so here's hoping I get it this time.0 -

Make sure you fill in your booklet correctly and pay attention to the 'do you expect your job to last longer than 5 weeks?'0 -

we have had benefit when i have been out of work while my dad has been working. they take the household income into account when they calculate benefit. so long as i am on the application for benefit they consider me. they just have the stupid rule that to get the 4 week follow through you have to be on the tenancy.0
