I haven't been on this site for a week or so and all the chat boards look strange. They are all in italics with no borders.
Is this a new thing or have I got a virus

It sounds like the CSS (cascading style sheet) is not loading. This generally happens when either the forum or your network is slow to respond. Do you have a huge download going on in the background?
No i have only got MSE open. I have just closed it down and then clicked back on to IE an on to this site and it is still in italics. Is this happening to anyone else??0 -
Not a techie at all, but this happened to me on laptop last week. (Hadn't used it for months, but desktop hard drive went). Not sure what the problem was, but had to do loads of Windows updates, and also an update with Aol. Now all back to normal again.0

I cannot do any updates because I am getting the message that my software might not be genuine? I have looked at the Microsoft website and it is saying it will cost £92 to convert it to a genuine whatever.0

And Is It??I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

its gone ok now.
As far as I was aware it was genuine, but obviously it isn't.
I had the computer 'updated' about 2 years ago. I paid about £200 me thinks I was ripped off!:o0 -
Think you were ripped off there chocomonsta.
Not for me to say, but think it is definitely preferable to get windows updates for security issues. Found Windows service pack 2 (OEM) at www.savastore.com for £58.63, which is a bit cheaper than what you were quoted. Am sure others can advise where you can get it cheaper.0
