Egg card

Hi guys,

I am hoping you might be able to shed some light on my Egg card. Last year I had some problems with my Abbey bank account. For some reason Abbey kept refusing to pay DD's and SO's (Anyone who has experienced Abbey knows there new system is a shambles and still not running properly)

Anyway this meant my Egg payments were messed up (late, never missed) over a period of a few months. Due to this, Egg did not renew the card. This was fine by me - I wasn't using it just paying it off. I have still been able to log into Egg online, do everything the same except I don't actually have a card. (DD has been working fine for a while)

Anyway having checked my credit file today, it has the Egg account marked as settled?? Why would this be? Has anyone else had this before?

Thanks,

GK

Because they didn't renew the card, they closed the account, which means it's settled in credit file parlance.

On credit files, a settled account is one which you have made all the necessary payments to and which has been closed.

It sounds as though Egg has used this status code incorrectly, but your credit history is not adversely affected.

I guess I should be grateful as it looks like I have less debt on there lol
