How long before applying again??

Could any one tell me please, my sons DLA ends in April 2010 and i just wanted to know when should i recieve the forms to apply again? is it correct that they are sent out six months before the award ends or have i got that wrong? Thankyou..

It used to be six months, but the DWP have now introduced a new abbreviated form for renewals which is now sent out three months in advance of the day the current award expires.

I received forms in May for my sons renewal - his awrd runs our in November 09
they were the standard forms - not abbreviated in any way
not sure when these new forms came into play - is it possible it is one of those regional trials that the DWP occasionally run?0 -
