Newbie question about receiving money in PayPal

Hi

I have sold some books on eBay and the buyes used PayPal. In my PayPal accound the funds have obviously been recieved as they are in my 'history' and in 'Overview'. However when I come to withdraw the money it says I have a nil or zero balance. What is going on? I heard something about collecting or capturing your recieved funds but ther is no 'collecting' or'capturing' area or pathway or 'button' ?

Can anyone help please?

Have you got a basic account or a premium one? If it is a basic account and the buyer paid by credit or debit card then it will appear in your history and overview but it will be "unclaimed". That may be why it hasn't appeared in your balance. If this is the case you will need to upgrade to a premium account but paypal will take a fee of 20p + 3.4% of every transaction you receive.

Or another thought is that it is an echeque, go back and see *exactly* what the email from paypal said when you got the payment.

I have a premium account. Ihave checked it and 4 buyers have paid me and the money has been posted but the 'balance' to transfer to my bank account is still zero.

Have you actually typed in an amount that you want to withdraw to your bank account?

But it says zero balance............ how can I type in an amount when it says I have nothing.........

I have my paypal preferences set to send me an email every time someone pays me by paypal, I always kind of assume that everyone does that but understand it isn't automatic. If you look at the payments in your paypal account individually, what does it say there? If they are e cheques it will be showing an estimated clearance date in small letters after the payment. An echeque would show as a payment received but not show in your balance at all and not therefore be available for withdrawal.

If it isn't that then I've got absolutely no ideas with this one though and can only suggest you give paypal a call.
