Hi,
There's so many different types/speeds of ram that I gave up trying to understand some time ago!!
I have a 512mb 184DIMM 400mhz DDR chip in mine at the moment and want to put an extra GB in.
Does anyone know if this will work alongside the existing one?

Thanks for your help in advance.

should work fine with the memory you have...
One thing to say is, if you have a problem with the memory once you have put it in, ya could try swapping the slots.. so if at first slot 1 had 512mb and slot 2 had 1gb, then swap it so that slot 1 has 1gb and slot 2 512mb
i have always stuck to the rule and its just personal choice that i would have the smallest amount of ram in the first slot and then the larger in the secon slot.
https://www.crucial.co.uk also do a memory configuator that will tell you the memory that is compatible with your pc...0 -
Excellent - thank you.
I knew that Crucial had the configurator, but I didn't realise that it had motherboard makes in the list too.
I build this machine from scratch, so didn't think it'd be in the list, but the board was, so thanks very much.

As long as you have some empty DIMM slots you should be able to add 1GB.
Crucual tells you everything u need to know about your motherboard, including how many empty DIMMs you have.0
