bloody electricity sales men

Again i had another buzz at on our intercom, telling us that we need to check the meter!
However they were in fact sales men, working for Scottish Power when i told them that i already work for a electricity supplier and they said straight away through cobra! and tried every trick to get me to sign over to SPOW. They even had the nerve to question my decision to refuse my desicion to changes suppliers - even though they were cheaper!
Can i complain to SPOW and get them to stop all direct marketing to my house, as it is pointless complaining to one of the plethora of the Cobra group.
I would put a no marketing sign, however as we live in a apartment complex.

Just say no thank you and shut the door on them. Threaten to call the police if they try and stop you shutting the door. Its the same with telesales. If you enter into a conversation with them then a lot of salespeople will try and wear you down and keep you hooked. Just remember they get rejected every day so a firm no and a shut of the door isn't going to cause them too much distress.0 -
Last time this topic was aired on here we actually had a spokesman from one of the power companies came on here.He came out with a lot of drivel. According to him "many people welcome the opportunity to discuss face-to-face different ways of getting cheaper power". He also said that most salesmen where not doing anything wrong and it was just a few bad apples who were bringing this operation into disrepute.
Of course that is far from the truth. This is why both the Trading Standards Institute and Age Concern have called for a complete ban of door-step selling of energy products.
There was an article about this in this week's Sunday Times. The reporter asked fifty of his friends and acquaintances if they liked salesmen knocking on their door trying to make them switch energy companies. All fifty people said they did not. So much for that energy company spokesman saying that the majority of people don't mind being disturbed by a lying, pushy salesman who's only concern is earning some commission. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
I was in a Sainsbury's store in Lincoln today and there were two energy company reps literally chasing people up and down the aisles trying to get them to sign up. Although they were fairly well-dressed, they were both chewing gum, which somewhat spoiled their image . When one approached me I told him not to hassle me and he backed off. So not only do we have these parasites phoning us up and knocking on our doors, you now cannot get away from them when you do your shopping. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Parasites. I find saying 'No hablo ingles, que, que?' to them ususally helps.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.
